[LEAK] Document Suggests Android 4.4 For Samsung Devices By January, Second Wave In April
The updating spree caused by the announcing and release of Android 4.4 KitKat continues: a leaked document apparently from Samsung shows the timelines for Android 4.4 (build KRT16) updates to be ready for Samsung’s flagship smartphones. As the table above shows, it expects to have an update ready for this year’s flagships, the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, to be ready by January 2014 and a similar update to last year’s flagships, the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, sometime in March or April next year.
This doesn’t seem like too ambitious a timeline: the S4 and Note 3 have had Android 4.3 for some time now and it’s feasible for the two phones to be updated in about 2 months time, particularly if Samsung is already working on them. I’m less confident about the S3 and Note 2 update, however, as many owners of these phones will know; although Android 4.3 updates are supposed to be inbound and available over-the-air now, this update was so far overdue that many owners are already jaded and/or ready to jump ship.
This is of course assuming you believe this document to be genuinely from Samsung. I guess only time will tell, but we hope for Samsung smartphone owners than this document is actually real. Do you think Samsung can follow through on this timetable? Let us know what you think about Android 4.4 for Samsung devices.
